Animals ME cosplays

Well, there are some scary things in those books... Especially to a little bird-- or uhm, dragon.
Yeah, but I can't guess if he'll afraid or not,he is scared of things his siblings weren't and he isn't of the things that are supposed to be scary for him!
For example, cockatiels are usually scared of bugs and flys, but Tiny likes to follow them and if he can, eat them😂

I am sorry to hear about your little warrior @Aredhel Ar-Feiniel. Hopefully he will still live happily ever after till the end of his days.

This is our doggy Sierra. She may look like just another golden retriever (which are all amazing of course), but my wife is blind and she is her guide dog. Therefore there has not been seen a hound more loyal, protective, and intelligent in Middle-Earth since Huan The Hound of Valinor, trusty pooch of the Elder Days!

One of Shelob's more colorful relatives was hanging out (literally) by my carport today.
I will treat it like a wizard and not meddle in its affairs.

Now you've reminded me of my own brush with the spawn of Ungoliant.

A baboon spider crawled through my window one night. It was so big that I actually heard it scrabbling at the window, that's how I knew it was there. Then I chopped it in half with my sword.

This morning I got a better photo including a freshly constructed web. And, I looked this lady up and found some of the info interesting. So, I figured I’d share it.

A spider of many names, including:
Argiope aurantia, yellow garden spider, zipper spider, zigzag spider.
Based on the large size, this one's a female.

The “zipper” and “zigzag” names relate to the extra thick zigzag line of webbing just below the spider.

The web of the yellow garden spider is distinctive: a circular shape up to 2 feet (60 cm) in diameter, with a dense zigzag of silk, known as a stabilimentum, in the center. The purpose of the stabilimentum is disputed. It is possible that it acts as camouflage for the spider lurking in the web's center, but it may also attract insect prey, or even warn birds of the presence of the otherwise difficult-to-see web. Only those spiders that are active during the day construct stabilimenta in their webs.

Speaking of spiders, the metal fence on one side of my house appears to be imitating Mirkwood today. Minus the mirk, cause the weather is very bright and hot. Normally these large black spiders are hiding in the grooves or gaps of the fence, but since they don't want to be cooked by hot metal, they've all come out to rest on their webs. I counted eight from what I could see, but there are probably more further along the fence.
